Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, speaking to reporters in Erode, said he could not respond to every statement made by DMK MP Kanimozhi and that she was free to express her views.

Referring to the issue of pollution, he questioned when the problem began, who was in power at the time, who failed to pay attention, and what steps were taken. He said he would respond after those responsible for pollution in the country were identified.

Sengottaiyan also said it was easy to level allegations about law and order based on what is shown on television, but stressed that the key task was to take practical steps to prevent incidents.

He added that Chief Minister Vijay’s approach was to monitor recurring issues continuously and act immediately, and said this was why the “Singappen Padai” was formed.

Turning to remarks about women, Sengottaiyan asked whether questions were raised to M.K. Stalin and Udhayanidhi on allegedly vulgar comments about women, and said Kanimozhi should be asked about similar remarks made on stage by her “brother and brother’s son.”
