DMK president M.K. Stalin has criticised Chief Minister Vijay, alleging that the government’s attention is centred on “saving the chair” instead of ensuring public safety.

In a statement, Stalin said Tamil Nadu is being pushed into a situation where criminals act with confidence while ordinary people live in fear. He cited multiple incidents, including the killing of a 19-year-old youth, Sathiyaseelan, in Chennai’s Mylapore.

He also referred to the murder of a father in Tiruttani after he lodged a police complaint over harassment of his 17-year-old daughter, and the daylight killing of an elderly woman, Janabai, in Salem, where jewellery was allegedly stolen.

Stalin further mentioned the killing of Veerabhadran in Dindigul district, saying he was attacked in front of his wife after signing at the Sanarpatti police station. Claiming crimes are being reported across the state—north, south, west and the capital—he urged the Chief Minister, who holds charge of the police department, to move out of “shooting mode” and take action.
