EPS flags law-and-order concerns

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has alleged that Tamil Nadu is witnessing a serious deterioration in law and order, claiming that violence and killings are becoming frequent across the state.

In a statement, Palaniswami said the streets are seeing scenes of brutality and that “blood is flowing” even if rainwater or floodwater is not. He also linked the rise of sexual offences to what he described as the hollowness of claims about women’s safety.

He criticised the Chief Minister’s public assurances on protection, arguing that mere rhetoric is not enough and that governance requires capability and effective administration. Palaniswami claimed that for the past five months, law and order has been in disarray.

He further alleged that the government is downplaying the seriousness of the issue, while ministers are focused on blaming others and silencing opposition voices. He also claimed police are being occupied with disputes involving ruling party members.

Palaniswami urged the government to take steps, at least now, to restore law and order in the state.
