Ramanathapuram: Senthil Manirajan (45), an Associate Professor at the Anna University Engineering College in Ramanathapuram, has been included in the list of the world’s top scientists.

The 2025–26 ranking was released on Oct. 7 by Stanford University professor John Ioannidis and his team in the United States. The list features 22 researchers from science-related fields, and Manirajan—an academic and researcher from Pamban in Ramanathapuram district—was among those selected.

Working in the Physics Department, Manirajan is involved in research on developing different types of sensors using optical fibre. He has published more than 100 research papers in leading international journals.

This year, his book on quantum physics was recorded in the Guinness records. He has also designed a sensor to detect the chemical “formalin,” which is used in fish preservation. Notably, this is the fifth time he has been featured in the world’s top scientists list.
