A money fraud complaint has been raised against Srivaikuntam TVK MLA Saravanan (35), after a Scheduled Caste youth from Thoothukudi district alleged he was cheated of Rs 60,000.
The complainant, Vainavaperumal (34) of Ambalthoppu in Eral, said in a video posted on social media that the MLA had promised to secure him a membership position in the Thoothukudi District Adi Dravidar Welfare Committee and collected the money.
According to him, the position was later given to someone else. He further alleged that when he asked for the money back, he was threatened, and demanded that the amount be recovered and returned.
Responding to the allegation, MLA Saravanan said he had no connection to the money. He claimed he had received complaints that some people were collecting money by claiming close links with him, and urged the public not to trust anyone who promises jobs or posts in his name.
