PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday took aim at political leaders who, he said, try to project themselves as farmers by staging photo-ops in agricultural fields.

Referring to leaders wearing a green scarf and posing in fields, he asked whether such gestures alone can make someone a farmer. He also remarked that beyond Rahul Gandhi, he did not see other party leaders being praised.

In a separate comment, Anbumani alleged that China was attempting to create pressure on India through Sri Lanka. He said a stronger Indian naval presence in Lakshadweep would curb such moves.

He also spoke about the importance of witnesses in proving guilt, and said lawyers are needed to defend oneself in the public sphere. Using an analogy, he described those who grab money as “money crocodiles.”

Anbumani further claimed that some opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, were hesitant to oppose certain issues due to fear that their “secrets” could be exposed, citing their foreign citizenship status.
