Washington: Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk has sparked fresh debate online with a sarcastic social media post that refers to Mukesh Ambani as India’s “real boss” and addresses him as “Prime Minister Ambani.” The post has since gone viral.

Musk has been pushing to bring Starlink, his satellite-based internet service, to India. However, the service has not yet received approval.

A few days earlier, Musk had alleged—without naming anyone—that a handful of wealthy individuals were blocking Starlink’s entry into the Indian market. His latest post is being seen as a pointed reference to Ambani.

In the message, Musk mockingly apologises for not recognising Ambani as the country’s true power centre and suggests that maintaining monopoly control may be the priority. He then asks whether Starlink would be allowed to compete.

Musk also argues that many rural areas in India still lack internet access, affecting children’s education and limiting small businesses from reaching global markets. He claims Starlink could improve livelihoods if permitted to operate.
