Washington: US President Donald Trump has suggested that either the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean could be renamed “Trump Ocean” or “America’s Ocean.” The remarks were made during an election campaign event in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Speaking to supporters, Trump claimed that the Gulf of Mexico had already been renamed the “American Gulf” and that Lake Ontario had been changed to the “American Lake.” He added that the country now needed “a river and an ocean,” and said he wanted an ocean’s name changed before his term ends.
Trump said the Atlantic or the Pacific could carry the new name, presenting it as a goal he hopes to achieve during his tenure. The comments drew loud laughter and applause from the crowd.
The proposal has since become a topic of discussion on social media. The report also notes that Trump has repeatedly voiced interest in renaming the Strait of Hormuz as the “Trump Strait,” and has shared a map labeling it that way, while his focus has now shifted to an ocean name change.
