DMK has criticised the Congress after a student interaction programme attended by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Chennai was promoted with a Hindi title.
The event, organised by the Tamil Nadu Congress, was held at Island Grounds, where Rahul Gandhi interacted with students and answered their questions.
DMK members pointed out that the programme was advertised as “Chatron Ki Goonj” in Hindi, without a Tamil name being foregrounded. They argued that this sent the wrong message in Tamil Nadu.
On social media, DMK voices alleged a “double standard”, noting that Rahul Gandhi often speaks about the importance of Tamil during his visits to the state, while his party’s official event branding highlighted only Hindi.
DMK spokesperson advocate Saravanan, in a social media post, said Rahul Gandhi had criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “attacking” Tamil language and culture during the interaction, and questioned the consistency of making such remarks while using a Hindi title for the programme.
