India has issued a sharp warning to Pakistan at the United Nations, saying it will not be intimidated by nuclear threats. The remarks came during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly’s First Committee in New York.
Pakistan raised a series of allegations against India, including over “Operation Sindoor” and the Indus river water issue. Responding, young Indian diplomat Anmol Sher Singh Bedi said India’s actions were driven by self-defence.
He said “Operation Sindoor”, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack, was a defensive measure. On the Indus Waters Treaty, he argued that Pakistan had undermined the very basis of an agreement signed in good faith, and could not continue to demand only its benefits.
Bedi cautioned that using nuclear weapons as a shield even for limited actions would only heighten regional tensions. He added that India would respond appropriately to terror attacks and would not distinguish between those who fund terrorism and those who mastermind it.
