Chennai: BJP functionary and actress Kasturi has dismissed speculation that she is joining TVK, saying the claims are being pushed with political “jealousy” in the background.

In a social media post, she said Tamil Nadu’s people would not believe allegations portraying her as part of a “BJP B-team,” and argued that the public can clearly sense the political motives behind such narratives.

Kasturi said she entered public life inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service, and added that the Tamil Nadu BJP state leadership has been her guide. She also thanked the party leadership and colleagues for standing by her.

Referring to a recent public event, she said even a respectful, familiar conversation with Minister “brother” Venkataramanan—held in a hall filled with people, cameras and reporters—was being twisted and portrayed in a distorted manner.

She noted that while political differences may exist, she does not support personal hostility, and said she would not be intimidated by what she described as low-level slander that demeans caste, profession and womanhood by misrepresenting a civil conversation.
