New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has stopped granting permission for protests and demonstrations at Jantar Mantar with effect from today.
Jantar Mantar had earlier been designated as a key venue for peaceful protests in the national capital. However, the site’s location on the Old Parliament Office Road in a central area has led to significant disruption to the public during protest days.
Citing the impact on normal life, the MHA has now shifted protest activity to three alternative locations: Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi.
The ministry said guidelines for holding protests at these newly identified venues will be issued soon.
