New Delhi: Parties of the INDIA bloc have been holding sustained protests in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyaneshkumar, amid a tense atmosphere in the capital.
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi announced that a march towards the Supreme Court will be held on October 12. In a post on X, he said students had staged a peaceful protest in Delhi a day earlier but were attacked by police and “BJP goons”.
Rahul said the delegation plans to submit a petition to the Chief Justice seeking that the SIR work be stopped and that Chief Election Commissioner Gyaneshkumar resign. He also called on youth, opposition parties and social organisations to participate.
However, Chief Justice of India Suryakant declined the INDIA bloc’s request for an appointment. The Chief Justice conveyed the decision and the reasons for it to the alliance via email, according to the report.
