Chennai police have registered a sixth case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against “Granite” Veeramani, who is already in custody and lodged at Puzhal prison.
According to police, the allegations involve sexual abuse of minor girls, with the accused allegedly approaching them under the pretext of helping with education and distributing Diwali gifts. Veeramani, 85, was earlier arrested in connection with the case.
Police said six people have been arrested so far, including Veeramani’s friend Shanti, 60, and her husband Mahendra Simhan, 63, for allegedly aiding the offences.
Officials noted that five POCSO cases had already been registered earlier, and the latest complaint has now been added as the sixth. Veeramani has been arrested in two of the cases so far, and police said he will be formally arrested in the remaining cases as well.
Meanwhile, the Central Crime Branch, along with Madurai district police, conducted another search at Veeramani’s luxury bungalow on Lloyds Road in Royapettah. Police said documents linked to the case had been seized during earlier searches.
