Chennai police said they have seized 55 important documents from the residence of ‘Granite’ Veeramani (85), who has been arrested in POCSO cases alleging sexual assault of minor girls.
Veeramani is currently lodged in Puzhal Central Prison. Police said six people have been arrested in the case, including his associate Shanthi (61) and her husband Mahendra Simhan (63), for allegedly aiding the offence.
With six cases registered against Veeramani, a Special Investigation Team (SIT), working with Madurai district police, conducted a search at his house on Lloyds Road in Chennai on Sunday.
Police said evidence had been seized earlier as part of the probe. They added that three of Veeramani’s car drivers were arrested a few days ago, and information provided by them led to the fresh search, during which the 55 documents were recovered.
