Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau police in Kerala have registered cases against former Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena, and others in connection with the alleged “CMRL–Exalogic” bribery matter. The FIRs were filed based on directions issued by the Kerala High Court.

The case centres on allegations that in 2017, Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) paid Rs 2.78 crore to Exalogic Solutions, an IT firm owned by Veena that is currently not operational, without receiving any information technology services in return. Vijayan led the state government from 2016 to 2026.

According to the report, the Enforcement Directorate had written to Kerala Police last month seeking registration of an FIR against Vijayan, Veena and Veena’s husband, former minister Mohammed Riyas, among others. The High Court later directed that a case be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act based on the ED’s report.

Vigilance police have now booked Vijayan as the first accused and Veena as the second accused in the CMRL–Exalogic case. Separately, another case has been registered over allegations that money received from CMRL was sent abroad through hawala channels, with Riyas named as the first accused and Veena as the second.

The CPI(M) has strongly objected to the action. Reports also said vigilance officials are planning to issue summons to Vijayan, Veena and others to appear for questioning.
