New Delhi: Members of the ‘Cockroach’ organisation attempted to stage a protest in the national capital, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Officer Gyanesh Kumar.

The protest came amid a recent decision by the Union government to remove Jantar Mantar from the list of designated venues where demonstrations are permitted.

Police said the group entered Jantar Mantar and held a protest in violation of the restrictions. Delhi Police arrested three members — Asutosh Ranga, Saurav Das and Ajinkya Shinde — and later released them.

Cases were registered against them under multiple sections, including for violating conditions. The three were produced before a court, which ordered five days of judicial custody.
