US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to arrive in India on October 17 for a five-day visit, according to reports. His itinerary includes travel to cities such as Mumbai and Jamnagar, marking his second visit to India.
During the trip, Rubio is expected to meet senior officials for discussions on India–US diplomatic ties, along with key global and regional developments. Energy-related issues are also slated to be part of the talks.
He is also scheduled to interact with business leaders, with conversations likely to focus on trade, investment and broader economic cooperation between the two countries.
The visit comes amid heightened attention to energy trade, after the US imposed a 100% tariff on India over its purchase of fuel from Russia. With bilateral trade agreement negotiations currently stalled, Rubio’s visit has generated significant expectations.
