New Delhi: The Supreme Court registry has flagged 14 defects in a petition filed by the INDIA bloc, a group of opposition parties including the Congress, Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party.
The petition challenges alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The court indicated that the matter would be taken up only after the petition is corrected and re-filed.
Among the issues noted, the registry said the court fee paid was short by Rs 220 and that the petition did not include the petitioners’ authorised vakalatnama documents.
It also pointed to an unclear copy of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s identity card, very small font in parts of the petition, and the non-submission of colour copies for two key documents.
Other defects listed include illegible printouts, missing pages, pages in regional languages without translation, and inconsistencies in page numbering, taking the total to 14 shortcomings.
