Washington: President Donald Trump said the United States is purchasing diesel from Russian refineries to help stabilize the global market, which he said has been affected by high prices.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the US has supported Ukraine and is “genuinely” helping it reach a final resolution. He added that Washington has been sharing intelligence and wants the war to come to an end.
Trump said the US is working with both Ukraine and Russia to bring the conflict to a close, and that he believes both sides want the war to end. However, he claimed they do not know how to implement a ceasefire due to deep hostility between them.
He emphasized that the decision to buy Russian diesel was not taken for America’s own benefit, but to stabilize the wider global market impacted by elevated prices.
