Public Works Minister Aadav Arjuna has alleged that the DMK is maintaining “studied silence” even as the country is agitated over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
In a statement, he accused the DMK of taking different positions depending on whether it is in opposition or in power, and claimed the party has long engaged in “political drama” on issues of state rights.
Aadav Arjuna said the SIR exercise in Tamil Nadu took place during the period when DMK leader M.K. Stalin was Chief Minister. He alleged that after initially projecting opposition to SIR, the DMK gradually aligned with the Election Commission and the BJP, and ensured the exercise was implemented across the state.
He further said his party opposed the SIR announcement in Bihar from the outset and moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the exercise. Accusing the DMK of sharing responsibility for what he called an assault on democracy, he said evidence of DMK’s actions in the SIR process would be disclosed at an appropriate time.
