An Air India flight flying from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur after air traffic control received an alert suggesting a possible hijacking while the aircraft was mid-air.

Following the warning received at the Ahmedabad ATC, the flight was rerouted to Rajasthan’s Jaipur and landed safely at the international airport. Security agencies were placed on standby, and the aircraft was isolated for checks before passengers were allowed to disembark.

All 306 people on board were reported safe. The pilots later stated that they did not transmit the international hijack emergency code “Squawk 7500” and that the flight’s operations were normal.

The incident has raised questions about how a hijack alarm was triggered without the code being sent. Authorities are investigating whether a glitch in newly introduced ATC software led to the false warning, while also examining if any technical issue on the aircraft could have generated an erroneous signal.
