Protests have been held in Delhi by the group described as the ‘Cockroach Party’, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. According to the report, some party functionaries, including Saurav Das and Ashutosh, were arrested for violating restrictions and have been remanded to judicial custody.
Organisations such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad have alleged that the group, which is said to be staging protests under the guise of student activism, is receiving financial support from abroad.
Amid these claims, US-based singer and actor Mary Millben alleged that certain American business figures opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are donating to the ‘Cockroach Party’ and instigating the protests.
Millben further claimed that such foreign donors follow a common pattern worldwide—targeting leaders with firm positions—and said the protests were part of that approach against Modi.
She urged Indians not to be afraid and said Modi, who she noted has served in leadership roles for 25 years, would not bow to what she described as “evil forces” in the US.
