Health and Family Welfare Minister Arunraj on Tuesday urged the public to immediately report any demand for bribes linked to job postings, transfers or appointments, assuring that action would be taken.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, the minister said the government is carrying out nurse recruitment in a transparent manner. He noted that 4,724 nurses are being recruited and insisted the process is being conducted without any bribe.
However, he said there are reports of intermediaries collecting money by claiming they can secure postings after checking selected candidates’ details. Arunraj asked those facing such demands—especially related to nurse postings—to bring the matter to his attention, promising strict action.
On public health, the minister shared dengue data, stating that 25,585 people were affected in 2025, while 23,241 have been affected so far this year. In Chennai alone, 118 dengue cases were confirmed on Monday, and he said the public need not panic.
He also assured complainants that their identities would be protected and reiterated that complaints should be filed without delay whenever anyone asks for a bribe.
