Saudi Arabia has been facing attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels. In a recent strike targeting the international airport in Riyadh, 12 people, including an Indian national, were killed, according to reports.
Amid heightened tensions, operations at King Khalid International Airport have been temporarily suspended until October 17. The disruption has affected travel plans for many foreign nationals, including Indians.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has issued advisories for Indian citizens seeking to leave Saudi Arabia. It said those wishing to depart may use flights available from airports in Qatar and Bahrain.
For Indians who entered Saudi Arabia on tourist or pilgrimage visits and are unable to find flights, the mission said they will be allowed to exit the country even if their visas have expired, without any penalty. The embassy and consulate have also opened 24-hour control rooms and shared contact numbers, WhatsApp lines, emails and social media handles for assistance.
