Chandigarh: Shah outlines rehabilitation push in Chhattisgarh
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that even if Naxal dominance is coming to an end in India, the pain endured by people over the past five decades cannot simply be wiped away.
Speaking about Chhattisgarh, Shah said the state government has a duty to provide solutions for poor tribal communities affected by Left-wing extremism, adding that the Centre would extend full support. He said the BJP government is working to rehabilitate those impacted by the violence.
Shah also criticised the previous Congress rule in Chhattisgarh, alleging that basic facilities were not provided for years. He said efforts are now under way to improve infrastructure.
He stressed that tribal culture should be restored in violence-hit areas and that the remaining traces of Naxalism must be eliminated. The government, he said, is committed to rebuilding Bastar as a peaceful and prosperous region.
