A hunger strike was held on Wednesday near Rajarathinam Ground in Egmore, Chennai, under the banner of Tamil Nadu auto, call taxi and rental vehicle drivers.
Drivers from across the state took part in the protest, organisers said.
The demonstrators pressed for a revision of auto fares, stating that the fare structure has not been increased for the past 14 years in Tamil Nadu.
The protest was called off after Transport Minister Parthiban held discussions with the protesters, following which the hunger strike was withdrawn.
