Government update in Madurai Bench

The Tamil Nadu government told the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court that an FIR has been registered in connection with an alleged land fraud complaint involving Kadayanallur DMK MLA Rajendran and others.

Petitioner’s allegations

The petition was filed by Murugaiya of Akkamalai in Coimbatore district. He claimed that a 9.70-acre property at North Panavadali near Sankarankovil in Tenkasi district belonged jointly to his father Nagaiya and his father’s brother Balu, with a joint patta, and that the property had not been formally partitioned. He said his father died in 2009.

According to the petitioner, Rajendran and his brother Chelladurai allegedly purchased the property from the petitioner’s brother Sekar without producing a death certificate or legal heir certificate, and without the petitioner’s consent. He further alleged that the land was transferred in 2019 to the name of Rajendran’s son, Siddharthan, using forged documents.

Police action and court proceedings

The petitioner said his mother Ponnuthai had complained to the Panavadali Chathiram police in 2019, and later he sent a complaint to the Tenkasi Superintendent of Police on September 7, 2026, but no action followed. He also alleged removal of an electric motor and felling of some trees, and noted that a civil case related to the property is pending.

Hearing the matter, Justice K. Govindarajan Thilakavathi recorded the government counsel’s submission that the Tenkasi district crime branch police had registered a case on the complaint, and closed the petition.
