London: Prince William took part in a friendly cricket match on The Mall, the road leading to Buckingham Palace, alongside several well-known international cricketers.

The event comes ahead of the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony scheduled to be held in Mumbai this November, where the Prince is expected to attend and honour those recognised for environmental protection efforts.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, Ajinkya Rahane, West Indies great Brian Lara, former England fast bowler James Anderson and current England captain Harry Brook were among those who joined the game.

In one sequence, Ganguly bowled while William played his shots, and later William bowled to Lara. A video from the match has gone viral, with a fan calling William “lucky” to have met and played with Ganguly, popularly nicknamed the “Prince of Kolkata.”
