At the Congress headquarters in Delhi’s Indira Bhavan, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi hosted a tea meeting for over 60 youth wing office-bearers. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders were also present.

Addressing the young functionaries, Rahul said Congress workers were like lions and would not fear political pressure or “false cases”. He added that those who continue to resist threats from the BJP-RSS were the party’s “real warriors”.

Rahul then criticised former Congress leaders who left the party, calling them “cowards” and “traitors”, and indirectly targeted those who later joined the BJP, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, RPN Singh and Jitin Prasada.

As Rahul made the remarks, Kharge reportedly cut in with a smile, saying those who quit were “all your friends, aren’t they?”. Rahul responded that he had made a mistake in identifying them as friends.

Kharge’s sharp interjection during Rahul’s comments has since become a talking point within the party, according to reports.
