Composer Srikanth Deva has spoken about the final moments of his father, popular music director Deva, describing the family’s shock and the events leading up to his death.
According to Srikanth Deva, Deva suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in the morning. He reportedly said he felt an unusual fluttering in his chest at home. Believing an ambulance might arrive late, the family took him by car to a nearby hospital.
At the hospital, doctors attempted CPR, but he could not be revived due to the cardiac arrest, Srikanth Deva said. He added that several film personalities visited to pay their respects, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
Srikanth Deva also said Chief Minister Vijay visited and paid homage. He thanked the Chief Minister and the minister on behalf of the family for announcing that the last rites would be held with government honours.
He further stated that Deva’s body would be laid to rest near Arcot, at a village called Sakkaramallur, and that the family would leave from here around 1 pm tomorrow.
