Heavy rain lashed Chennai from last night, continuing through the early hours and leaving several parts of the city inundated. Civic teams have been working to drain stagnant rainwater from affected areas.

To strengthen rescue and relief operations, Chief Minister Vijay appointed ministers in charge of Chennai’s 15 zones. He instructed them to speed up on-ground response in areas impacted by flooding.

The Chief Minister reviewed the rain and flood situation and the ongoing relief measures in the city. He visited the monsoon control room at Ripon Building and sought updates on stormwater drain-related works.

Ministers including Aadhav, Arunraj, Rajmohan and Venkataraman were present during the review.
