Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Chennai to inaugurate multiple projects, including the Chennai Metro Rail expansion, a national highway initiative and renovated railway stations. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and Chief Minister Vijay received the Prime Minister at the airport and also waited for about an hour to see him off when he returned to Delhi.
According to the report, Vijay’s hospitality pleased the Prime Minister. For the Prime Minister’s security, more than 30 senior officers from the Special Protection Group (SPG) arrived in Chennai.
Some of these officers interacted with the Chief Minister, and a few even took selfies with him. Vijay reportedly asked each officer their name and hometown during the conversations.
A former Union minister later posted on social media praising Vijay’s English pronunciation. However, officials who accompanied the Prime Minister said Vijay also understood Hindi and responded in Hindi to an extent, and they expressed surprise that this was not mentioned in the post.
