Veteran film music composer Deva, 75, died on Friday morning after suffering chest pain. His mortal remains were kept at his residence in Chennai for people to pay their respects.
Chief Minister Vijay and actors including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and S.J. Suryah visited in person to offer tributes. Fans and members of the public also gathered in large numbers through the night.
On Saturday, the body was taken to Deva’s native place for the final rites. The funeral was held at his farm in Chakkaramallur village in Ranipet district.
Deva was cremated with full state honours, with a 72-round police gun salute. Thousands, including the public and prominent personalities, attended the last rites.
