Minister Sengottaiyan spoke to reporters at Coimbatore airport on Friday, highlighting the state’s preparations to manage rain-related disruptions.
He said Chief Minister Vijay has initiated multiple steps to address the impact of heavy rains. Sengottaiyan added that he was travelling to Chennai to review the situation, and that precautionary measures were being implemented with the Chief Minister’s approval.
According to the minister, 250 boats have been kept ready to reach areas where waterlogging occurs, as part of the response plan.
On political speculation, Sengottaiyan said he had never stated that “15 AIADMK MLAs” would join the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He maintained that he had only said “15 people from AIADMK” would come, and challenged critics to produce any record of the earlier claim.
Sengottaiyan also praised CM Vijay, saying the TVK leader had supported him and that he felt obliged to convey his greetings and thanks.
