Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said the Centre will ensure Punjab and the country are fully freed from the threat of drugs. He made the remarks in a public post while referring to recent killings in Punjab.

According to the report, Parvinder Singh Jotta, Gulzar Singh and Bikramjit Singh from the Mansa region were killed after raising their voice against drug sales and synthetic drug trafficking. Shah said he will meet their families on October 20.

In his statement, Shah alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has not left any stone unturned in pushing the state into what he described as a “pit” of drug use, and said many families have lost their children.

He also asserted that attempts to silence those who speak out against the drug trade will not succeed, and that people will respond. Shah said the central government will track down drug traffickers and put them behind bars.
