Discontent is reportedly growing among young volunteers in ‘We the Leaders’, the organisation run by former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai. The group, which has been positioning itself with a focus on youth, is now facing internal complaints from those who joined early.

According to members of the organisation, several youngsters who campaigned for Annamalai—through social media efforts and poster campaigns—feel they have been pushed to the margins after the new outfit was launched. They allege that the initial set of volunteers are no longer being given space in key activities.

They further claim that some newly appointed office-bearers are building separate support groups, while “old faces” are being prioritised at events on the grounds of political experience. The members cited the inauguration of the ‘Dr Abdul Kalam Ethics and Politics Centre’ in Coimbatore as an instance where youth were sidelined.

The volunteers said this trend is discouraging politically motivated youngsters, leading some to step back from the organisation. They urged Annamalai to step in immediately, meet the youth who have been with him, hear their grievances, and ensure meaningful youth participation in decision-making within the group.
