BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai, speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, criticised the growing culture of social media fights and public posturing around political leaders.

Referring to supporters who celebrate meeting actor Vijay or argue online on his behalf, Annamalai said such actions bring no real benefit. He cautioned people against standing in the scorching sun for someone else or getting drawn into aggressive online confrontations.

He said social media has deteriorated into a space where conflicts escalate, and urged citizens not to waste their lives by showing support for individuals online. According to him, politics needs to change and leadership should be built through meaningful engagement.

Annamalai also said his party is clear about its path and will contest the local body elections. He alleged that anti-social elements tend to seek shelter with whichever party is in power.

He claimed such elements believe that taking photographs with ruling party figures will deter police action, and accused them of using the ruling party as a protective shield.
