The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast and adjoining central east Bay of Bengal on October 23.
According to the IMD, the system is expected to move in a northwesterly direction and gradually intensify.
The weather agency also warned of strong winds over the Arabian Sea region on October 22 and 23. Squally winds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are likely over Kerala, coastal Karnataka and the Lakshadweep area.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these sea areas during the period, the IMD said.
