Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Tuesday made remarks about former minister Vijayabaskar during a government function held in Pudukkottai.

Speaking to reporters, Sengottaiyan said Vijayabaskar “knows many tricks” and would bring everyone together before stepping into the field. He added that Vijayabaskar would not only enter the fray but also emerge victorious.

The minister also said Vijayabaskar would work standing behind Chief Minister Vijay.

During the interaction, a reporter asked whether the minister’s comments meant Vijayabaskar was preparing to contest and whether the function should be viewed as an election-linked government event.

Responding immediately, Sengottaiyan said his reference to “entering the field” was only in the sense of supporting efforts aimed at victory, and urged that it should not be compared or linked to anything else.
