Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched projects worth Rs 8,941 crore aimed at cleaning the Yamuna in Delhi, and used the occasion to mount a sharp political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s foreign travel, Shah said he did not know where the Congress leader was currently staying abroad and added that no explanation had been offered. Calling it a personal matter, Shah said Rahul should listen once he returns to Delhi.
Shah claimed that Rahul Gandhi would not come to power for the next 30 years and alleged that the Congress, due to what he described as “negative politics”, would be unable to win elections even by 2030.
He also dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft” as false, alleging they were raised only to protect the vote bank of infiltrators. Shah further said the Congress had failed to form governments in several states for years.
Turning to Punjab, Shah said people would give a fitting reply to Arvind Kejriwal by uprooting the Aam Aadmi Party government. He also criticised the previous Congress rule in Delhi for not acting on garbage piles, and said landfill sites would be cleared and parks created in a short time.
