Tamil Nadu’s Highways Department has initiated preliminary work for a proposed elevated corridor in Chennai to ease traffic congestion.
The plan covers a 4-km stretch from Lighthouse to the Thiru Vi Ka Bridge in Adyar, a key arterial route in the city.
As part of the first phase, the department has invited tenders to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The DPR is expected to assess feasibility and outline the project’s technical details.
After the feasibility study is completed, the next step will be to call for construction tenders for the flyover, according to the report.
The proposal is aimed at improving traffic flow along the busy Lighthouse–Adyar corridor.
