Tensions along the Arunachal Pradesh frontier remain unresolved, with China continuing to assert claims over the northeastern state. The issue has also been highlighted by China’s release of maps carrying alternate names for locations in the region.

India’s Survey organisation has identified 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh on official maps and published them with Indian names. The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a strong response to China over the matter.

Speaking at a meeting in Alwar, Rajasthan, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Satrujeet Kapoor said face-offs between Indian and Chinese troops are still continuing at multiple points along the Arunachal border. He added that in several stretches, a direct confrontation-like situation has emerged in recent days.

Kapoor said ITBP commando teams have been handling the situation effectively. He also noted that China has invested heavily in modernising its military, making conventional approaches challenging in the near term, and argued that drone technology offers a strong opportunity to bolster India’s defence capability.
