Chennai: Minister Ramesh on Thursday inspected the Parthasarathy Temple at Triplicane and spoke to reporters about temple administration and ongoing precautionary measures.
He said prasadam is being prepared within temple premises at more than 35 temples across Tamil Nadu, and arrangements are being made to ensure it is provided in a quality manner. According to him, this is being implemented only in temples where it is feasible.
On the monsoon situation, the minister said Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) officials are conducting a statewide survey to identify temples that may be affected by rain. He added that instructions have already been issued on how to drain rainwater as a preventive step.
Ramesh said complaints raised by the public and those highlighted in the media are being acted upon promptly. He also stated that no one is arrested for criticism, but action is taken against those who use vulgar, defamatory or disrespectful language, including derogatory remarks aimed at the Chief Minister.
He added that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is not afraid of criticism and is ready to respond, noting that Chief Minister Vijay has been answering questions as well. However, he reiterated that vulgar or defamatory speech would invite definite action and urged the media to insist on political criticism rather than abusive language.
