Virudhunagar: Responding to reporters’ questions on when the Rs 2,500 women’s entitlement amount will be disbursed, Minister Jegatheeswari said the payment would be delivered as promised by Chief Minister Vijay.

She said the government has completed over 150 days in office and is working to fulfil commitments. According to her, the Rs 2,500 assistance will be brought in “quickly” so that people can benefit.

The minister said preparatory work is under way, including updating beneficiary data by removing names of deceased persons and ensuring eligible recipients are covered.

She also cited complaints that money has been credited to the wrong bank accounts, and said steps are being taken to correct such issues.

Referring to the previous administration, she alleged that proper procedures were not followed, affecting the scheme’s reach. She added that the current government wants to ensure full benefit to the public, and that a firm timeline can be stated only after the ongoing work is completed.
