New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has released a video recalling the first time she met Rajiv Gandhi, drawing significant attention online.
The video is a preview to her upcoming memoir titled Belonging; A Journey of Love, scheduled for release on November 10, 2026. The book will be published by HarperCollins.
Shared on X, the two-minute clip looks back at her early days in Cambridge, England. Sonia Gandhi says her “journey of love” began at a small Greek restaurant she discovered while searching for places that served Italian food.
She recalls that the restaurant was frequented by European students as well as many Indian students, and that it was there she met Rajiv for the first time through a mutual friend. She says they became friends, attended gatherings and outings with their circle, and that she was drawn to his gentle nature—adding that the first meeting remains unforgettable.
Sonia Gandhi concludes by saying she will share more of that world of love, happiness and memories with readers when the memoir is released on November 10.
