Chennai: Minister Aadav’s speech at a youth wing public meeting of the Indian Union Muslim League in Chennai has triggered a social media backlash, with fans alleging he took a veiled dig at actors Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan.
In his address, Aadav said the outcome of the 2029 Lok Sabha election would be shaped from Tamil Nadu and claimed that “new actors” had camped in Delhi to disrupt that. He added that such attempts would not succeed and that they were “watching everything,” without naming anyone.
Aadav also made sharp political remarks, alleging that the DMK had “turned into the devil’s child” and that more “new devil’s children” would emerge. He referred to an actor who had camped in Delhi and another who had gone to Delhi during Pongal, again without specifying names.
The comments were widely interpreted as referring to Dhanush amid reports that he is exploring converting his welfare organisation into a political party and has been staying in Delhi for related efforts. Political circles also linked the Pongal reference to Sivakarthikeyan’s participation in a Pongal event at then Union Minister of State L. Murugan’s Delhi residence earlier this year.
Following the speech, fans of both actors posted critical reactions online, targeting Aadav and the ruling dispensation. Some posts claimed that opponents were “afraid even before a party is launched,” reflecting the intensity of the online response.
