New Delhi: Congress leaders are reportedly uneasy over Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s recent public gestures towards senior BJP leaders.
According to the report, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked his 62nd birthday, several leaders including the President and the Prime Minister conveyed their wishes. Soon after BJP leaders, Vijay was said to be among the first to send greetings, a move that has allegedly upset Congress members within the alliance.
The development has also triggered speculation within Congress circles about whether Vijay is moving closer to the BJP and the RSS. The report points to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Chennai, during which Vijay not only received him at the airport but also waited for about an hour to see him off.
Following the interaction, the Prime Minister is said to have expressed happiness and assured that the Centre is ready to extend all support for development in coordination with the Tamil Nadu government. The report adds that Congress leaders in Delhi have grown more doubtful as Vijay and his party are seen as rarely criticising the BJP.
