Bengaluru: MS Dhoni, a key figure for the Chennai franchise in the Premier League, has sparked fresh speculation about his future in the tournament.
At 45, Dhoni has continued to be associated with Chennai, but he has been dealing with a calf injury. He did not feature in any match last season, leading to talk that he could announce retirement at any time.
Fans have been keen to know whether he will return for the next edition. Dhoni addressed the question while attending a medical awareness programme in Bengaluru.
Responding to a query on his participation next season, Dhoni said he has not taken a decision yet. He added that he would decide by December, depending on medical examinations and his physical fitness.
He noted that doctors would need to evaluate whether he is fit to play again, and joked that it was up to them to get the “vintage vehicle” back on the road.
