Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the BJP-led government has delivered another “decisive blow” against narcotics through a coordinated action named Operation Trident.

According to his statement, searches were carried out at 38 locations across Assam, Mizoram and Manipur, targeting an international drug trafficking network. The operation resulted in the arrest of 18 people linked to the cartel.

Authorities also detected Rs 100 crore in hawala transactions. In addition, 1,424 bank accounts were frozen and assets worth Rs 17.82 crore were seized.

The operation led to the recovery of 500 detonators and Rs 12 lakh in cash, Shah said. He added that the action underlines the Centre’s commitment to make India drug-free by December 31, 2029.

Shah congratulated central agencies, the police forces of the three states and the anti-narcotics team, stating that India will continue its fight until the “final nail” is driven into the coffin of drug trafficking gangs.
